Foundation Models & Multiomic Methods: Revolutionizing Precision Medicine with Classical + Quantum Artificial Intelligence

John D. Mayfield, MD, PhD
Clinical Fellow in Radiology, Massachusetts General Hospital
Dr. Mayfield is currently a Neuroradiology Clinical Fellow/Assistant at Massachusetts General Hospital and Researcher with the Athinoula A. Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging. He serves as Deputy Editor for the RSNA Radiology: Artificial Intelligence journal and is a junior member of the IEEE Computing Society where he is an invited panelist for the IEEE Quantum Week. His work includes a wide range AI solutions ranging from foundation models to federated learning, medical imaging engineering including quantum sensing using nanomagnetometers and quantum dot scintillators, as well as digital twins for in silico modeling of neurodegenerative disease using quantum-classical methods. Lastly, he is published in quantum machine learning, spatiotemporal deep learning methods, and post-quantum cryptography. Dr. Mayfield earned his M.D. from the University of Florida and completed both his Masters (Johns Hopkins) and Ph.D. (USF) during diagnostic radiology residency. Prior to medical school, he earned the title of Advanced Sommelier with the Court of Master Sommeliers (1 of ~400 worldwide) and was one of the youngest directors of education for a wholesale wine distributor. He is also an NIH NCI/ODSS Quantum Computing Biomedical Challenge winner and NIH NCATS Quantum Computing Challenge 1st round winner
