In celebration of the 3rd anniversary of the Center for Intelligent Imaging (ci2) at UCSF, we are excited to announce the inaugural ci2 Imaging Innovation Challenge. The Imaging Innovation Challenge invites members of the ci2 community to submit computational projects that address key clinical and research problems in medical imaging.

This challenge is purposefully open ended, and we encourage participants to be showcase their creativity in both their problem framing and solutions. Solutions can include, but are not limited to, diagnostics, interactive visualization tools, image reconstruction and more. We encourage applicants to leverage the UCSF Information Commons data and computational resources. Applications that utilize open data sets will also be accepted.

To support the challenge, we will hold regular office hours and open slack channel to provide assistance in leveraging the Information Commons resources. We will also add imaging resources to Information Commons depending on project needs.

The goal of this challenge is to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and celebration of advanced computational applications in medical imaging as well as promoting the use of de-identified data which provides greater access to researchers and reduced risk to subjects.

At the conclusion of the challenge, we will host a poster session celebrating the work of the applications and grant awards for exceptional submissions. We will award prizes and certificates to the top finishers for the best submissions in the categories of creativity, clinical impact, originality and presentation. Posters will be presented in May during our Science Days event.

If you are interested in submitting to this challenge, please fill out the survey located here. The Challenge submission deadline is Friday, April 28, 2023.
