The UCSF Center for Intelligent Imaging (ci2) is pleased to announce that Sharmila Majumdar, PhD, ci2 executive and scientific director, has been named one of the 2022 top female scientists in the U.S.

The ranking from Research.com is based on the proportion of the contributions made within each researcher's field, as well as the individual's awards and achievements. The top 1,000 female scientists are included in the ranking.

"We are painfully aware that academic research is still a predominantly male profession, and we believe that female scientists deserve an equal chance to be represented and praised for their achievements," says a statement on Research.com. "Our aim is to inspire female scholars, women considering an academic career, as well as decision-makers worldwide with the example of successful women in the scientific community."

Dr. Majumdar, whose work has been cited more than 35,000 times, ranked in the top 500 among female scientists in the U.S. and in the top 800 among female scientists in the world. Twenty-one other researchers from UCSF were also included in the ranking.
