Olga Tymofiyeva, PhD

Associate Professor

Dr. Olga Tymofiyeva is an Associate Professor in the UCSF Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging. Dr. Tymofiyeva holds her degrees in Physics (PhD, University of Wuerzburg, Germany), Electrical Engineering (MSc, University of Applied Sciences, Karlsruhe, Germany and BSc, NTUU “KPI”, Kyiv, Ukraine), and Psychology (BSc, University of Hagen, Germany). Her main research interest is non-invasive mapping of structural and functional connectivity in the developing brain, from premature neonates to adolescents and young adults. She develops and applies advanced MRI techniques to study the neurobiological substrates of mental disorders (in particular, adolescent depression) and effects of mind-body interventions on children and adolescents. Dr. Tymofiyeva is currently the Principal Investigator for an NIH-funded study of brain plasticity in adolescents undergoing a mindfulness meditation training, the "BrainChange" study: https://radiology.ucsf.edu/research/labs/BrainChange.
